  • Case Study: e-Fare Classic
    • CHALLENGE

      Develop an engaging user experience for Genfare’s e-Fare Classic suite of rider, organization and administrative websites, and create a solution that can be easily branded to match the look and feel of the website used by each transit customer.

      SOLUTION

      Working with Genfare and its customers, and using a design sprint approach, HS2 created new user interface interactions and navigation, and obtained customer signoff for the new interface in just over eight weeks. HS2 engineers then built web services and a modern supporting front-end application to turn the design into a fully functional system. A back-end administrative application allows for the customization of styles, text and images throughout a family of applications.

      RESULTS

      The ability to easily create a customer-branded fare media sales experience has greatly facilitated the sale of the solution to transit agencies throughout North America. The success of this project led to a multi-year partnership between HS2 and Genfare.

  • Case Study: ID Card Creation Application
    • CHALLENGE

      Genfare needed a solution for the production of personalized ID cards for various transit agencies and users. Personalized photos would need to be taken in the app, or uploaded using the app, and printed via an integrated ID Card Printer. User-specific data would also need to be encoded on these cards for security and validation purposes.

      SOLUTION

      Working with Genfare, HS2 designed and developed an application that displays a sample ID card to the user. The app includes HTML5 webcam capabilities to take a new photo, upload an existing photo, and save that photo in the cloud for future reuse. Producing a card would both encode the user’s information on the card itself and print a photo and user’s name on the face of the card.

      RESULTS

      The solution is an integral part of the delivery. All non-regular riders (reduced fare, employee, etc) get a photo ID card that can be used to ride the bus or, for driver cards, operate the farebox.

  • Case Study: Genfare Link Point of Sale Solutions
    • CHALLENGE

      To meet customer demands, Genfare wanted to develop a brand new point of sales (POS) solution to sell and encode fare media. The new solution needed to have an intuitive touchscreen user interface, be hardware agnostic and work flawlessly with or without a live Internet connection.

      SOLUTION

      Working with Genfare, HS2 designed and developed two distinct classes of POS applications that could be used by transit agency staff or third-party retail partners who sell transit passes as a convenience to their customers.

      RESULTS

      The retail and administrative solutions are key components of Genfare Link—the fare-management platform of the future. These solutions have been praised for their ease of use, reliability and complete sales data integration with Genfare Link. Agencies can now distribute electronic fare media easily through third-party sales affiliates, increasing ridership and convenience.
